Back in the saddle(back) again (deja vu)
After far too long off live gig duties we finally got back at it last Friday with a show for Kickback at Oscars (LAR). It was the seventh Kickback Friday we've put on, our first headline slot and the first time they've had to put the 'sold out' signs up. A bonus was the debut with the full band for Brum Baggins, our new part-time/occasional singer. It was a whole new game for him and he dealt with it superbly. We feel like he gives us another dimension, and a different avenue to explore. It also allowed us to unveil four new songs and give a re-boot to our old favourite Cable Street. So, loads of options to mull over moving forwards. Best of all for me was having Engelbert back alongside us on stage. He slipped straight back into it and played a blinder. Dates for the spring and summer are starting to come in, including BOA Brewery at Stourport and the Wrekin Inn in Telford in February. We'd love to see you at one of them.
Our return to playing live coincided with the launch of the video for our current single 'Dumb'. Although it was recorded last July it took Roger Bowles, our one-man film and production crew, until now to make us look semi-presentable. After the amazing job Roger did with 'Good Juju', we were chuffed when he said yes again and he has done a great job of re-creating the live look we were after. We're delighted with the end result and all the feedback has been extra-positive, with several sage folks wondering how we could afford to get such a professional job done.
The three tracks recorded at Lane's End last summer are also pretty much ready for release as an EP. '7:41', 'Monkey's Paw' and 'Clockwork Mice' will be available on all the usual platforms once we have the artwork ready.
Finally, Wolf Manor is now available to view free on Netflix. The gory splatter-fest that we supplied the songs for the end credits has even been seen on supermarket shelves and continues to pick up enthusiastic reviews around the world.
